Why Wordpress Is The Preferred Blogging Platform?
There’s no doubt that Wordpress is the most popular self hosted blogging platform available today. We see it all over the place, from the smallest to the largest bloggers to even many heavy hitting (non blogging) websites. So why is this? What has put Wordpress so high on the pedestal of blogging platforms that it’s presence dominates the Internet?
Smart Design
Matthew Mullenweg, the founder of Wordpress, helped design a blogging platform that just seemed do everything well as well as easily so. Maneuvering the Dashboard of Wordpress, adding new content, adjusting code, changing settings, etc… are all performed with ease. Everything seems to make logical sense and never do you find yourself trapped in a maze of confusing buttons or directions. It just all seems to make sense. I find the back-end of Wordpress to be the perfect balance of feature filled options and simplistic design; something I can’t quite say for some of the other offerings out there.
I have no doubt that this ease of use has brought so many initial users running to this great blogging platform, but if it weren’t coupled with excellent mechanics, they’d be running in the opposite direction when the truth was revealed. I guess you could say that the proof is in the pudding.
Awesome Flexibility!
I just love the ease at which the Wordpress blogging platform allows you to move your entire blog to and from different Wordpress installations. Coming from Blogger, no proplem! In the Dashboard of Wordpress you can easily export your entire blog database or import many different platforms. And once again, it’s all laid out in such a way that JUST MAKES SENSE.
Amazing Support!
With huge popularity comes unmatched support. From forums and blogs just giving away great, free assistance, to developers handing out intuitive and wonderfully useful plugins, left and right. If you’re a user of the Wordpress Blogging Platform you get to enjoy the privilege of always having your items in stock and never having to wait for your favorite accessory to come in (if you’re into retail store analogies?
)
Why I Prefer Wordpress
Certainly for all the reasons just explained, but for me it’s just the simple fact that it makes the most sense. We all have limited time to get things done and I can’t afford to waste any of that precious time searching Google to figure out how to do every other new task I come across. I’ve worked with too many crude website/blogging platform programs that never quite seemed to leave the logic in the design. With Wordpress I rarely ever find myself thinking, “That’s an odd way of doing such and such?” Similar to Mac OSX, Wordpress does just what you need and in the simplest, most efficient way possible!
